Lake Forest’s next Halloween outing comes with an old schoolhouse and a ranch-era backstory. Fall-O-Ween returns to Heritage Hill Historical Park October 23–25, giving families another weekend to explore the decorated grounds after the event’s October 16–18 opening run.

OC Parks lists special hours of 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., with free admission and free parking. Costumes are encouraged. The sixth annual event includes fall and Halloween photo settings, a scavenger hunt, and a straw maze. Giveaways are available while supplies last, and light refreshments will be sold. Pets may attend on leashes no longer than six feet.

The setting adds something unusual to the seasonal outing. Heritage Hill preserves four restored historic buildings that trace the Saddleback Valley and El Toro area’s past, including the Serrano Adobe and the 1890 El Toro Grammar School. It is a chance to notice a little local history between the decorations.

Find the park at 25151 Serrano Road. For families comparing weekend plans, the free entry makes this an easy option to keep on the list. Check OC Parks for any event changes before leaving; the park’s public contact is 949-923-2230.
