Your calendar says October. Your beach bag says there is still plenty of weekend left. Welcome to fall, Orange County style.

You do not have to wait for sweater weather to make the season feel special. Pick one small outing: a neighborhood walk, a bakery you have been meaning to try, or a coastal stop at the end of the day. Invite someone along and leave room for an unexpected discovery.

Try a simple challenge this week. Visit a part of the county you normally pass through, and take one photo that captures your version of fall. It might be a harbor view, a decorated storefront, or a picnic with friends. For pumpkin patches and seasonal celebrations, check the organizer’s current dates before you go. Our autumn does not need to borrow somebody else’s scenery. Sometimes the best October memory comes with sunshine, a good snack, and a little sand in your shoes.
